The subject of tips is viewed differently in various cultures worldwide. The following is suggested merely as a guideline for those who would like guidance and is by no means a minimum or maximum. Tipping is, by definition, a voluntary gesture, and our staff is all well paid and do not depend on tips for their livelihood.

Tanzania enjoys year-round warm weather. However, with a range of altitudes, seasonal rainfall and temperatures vary between regions. The northern Tanzanian Safari circuit is typically warm and dry but surprisingly cool at higher altitudes. The short rains fall in October-November and the long rains during April and May. The green season between late November and March might experience some rainfall from time to time. With altitudes ranging from 1950 to 2100 meters above sea level, average daytime temperatures are very comfortable and vary from 21° to 32°C, with a moderate 10° to 16°C at night. Rain is no hindrance for a safari, and some of the best wildlife viewing occurs due to and during this period of the year.

All of the Entara camps are equipped with multi-plugs and USB sockets. In all camps, except Esirai, charging is available in the tented chalet and the lounge and dining tent. In Esirai, charging stations are provided in library tent.

Esirai is a very light-footprint mobile tented camp designed following tried-and-tested classic principles. Since its inception, a balance between comfort and sustainability has been at the core of our camp. The entire camp packs into a single pickup truck, moving from north to south Serengeti following the migration. Key eco-friendly features include: -Solar Power: The camp is fully solar-powered, with DC lighting and each tent producing its own independent power. The library tent also has a solar charging station, and the fridges and freezers are solar-powered Water Conservation: The camp does not have running water. However, each tent has an ensuite shower with heated bathing water, a basin on the veranda filled with heated water in the evening, and a tap and basin inside the tent for washing your face and brushing your teeth. -Eco-Friendly Toilets: The toilets are dry pit latrines”flushed” with sand. This is the most eco-friendly type of toilet, helping us minimizs pollutants in the precious Serengeti ecosystem. Esirai offers super attentive service and great food, making it the perfect eco camp for a comfortable and sustainable safari experience.

Fly camping is an overnight experience that truly immerses adventurers in the sounds of the African savannah at night and provides the perfect opportunity to appreciate the big African skies. The campfire is the focal point of the fly camp where we eat our meals and socialise. This may be a wild adventure but back-to-basics camping does not mean a lack of comfort – drift off to sleep comfortably as you are hugged by soft duvets and down pillows; and dining is generous, wholesome and served with a cold beer or a cool glass of wine. This experience will take us deep into the wilderness for a night or two, during which we conduct most of our activities on foot, allowing us to be in the bush rather than merely observing it.

All Entara camps offer free WiFi, except for Esirai. In the camps, WiFi is available at the mess tent. Bush WiFi is only sometimes reliable. It’s good enough to write home and let everyone know you are okay, but not sufficient for uploading videos or streaming events. Esirai does not have WiFi, but the camp manager is in contact with the main office and can pass a message to you in an emergency.

Mobile phone reception coverage is available in some regions of northern Tanzania, and if you have roaming, you can use it in some parts of the safari, but not consistently. Arusha is the only location where all networks have coverage. In the other camps, WiFi serves as a backup if your network doesn’t have coverage. All the major networks have good coverage around the parks.

During an Entara safari, you might experience a few types of vehicles. The activity and transfer vehicle in the safari camps and lodges is an open safari Land Cruiser, with an awning to provide shade from the elements. Each vehicle is equipped with a fridge filled with cold drinks and a picnic basket with snacks and hot drinks. Sometimes, when transferring from the international airport to camp or doing long road transfers, a transfer vehicle can be used instead of the open safari vehicle. These transfer vehicles are more comfortable for high-speed road transfers. In such cases, we use an air-conditioned minivan or a closed safari Land Cruiser.

An Entara safari in Tanzania focuses on immersive wilderness experiences rather than only vehicle-based game drives. Unlike many Tanzania safaris that follow a more lodge-to-lodge format, Entara safaris include walking safaris, fly camping, cultural interactions, and time spent in remote areas with very few other vehicles. The style of safari is flexible and guided by guest interests, allowing for a deeper connection with wildlife, landscapes, and local communities while maintaining a strong focus on conservation and low environmental impact.

Entara safaris in Tanzania are typically operated on a private basis, meaning guests have their own guide, safari vehicle, and personalised activities throughout their journey. This allows for a flexible pace, custom game-viewing priorities, and a more exclusive experience compared with shared vehicle safaris. Some specialised experiences, such as fly camping logistics, may involve a small support team, but the guiding and core safari experience remain private to the booking. Entara also offers a shared safari option through the Game Package. On this package, all activities are shared with other guests in camp rather than privately guided. The nightly rate includes scheduled shared game drives only. Other experiences such as walking safaris, cultural interactions, or additional activities are not included in the nightly rate, are charged as additional extras, and are subject to availability.

On a Tanzania safari with Entara, an eco camp would be our semi-permanent or seasonal camps designed to blend into the natural environment while minimising ecological impact. These camps offer comfortable tented accommodation, proper beds, en-suite facilities, and full camp services, while still being located in remote wildlife areas.

A fly camp, by contrast, is a short, temporary wilderness setup used for one or two nights. It is a more adventurous style of safari experience where guests sleep under the stars or in simple tents in a remote location, enjoy meals around the campfire, and spend more time exploring on foot. Fly camping is designed for deeper immersion in the African bush while still maintaining safety and essential comforts. Fly camping is offered on Adventure Package at Olmara Camp, Kisima Ngeda Camp and Olkeri Camp.

Entara’s camps are located in remote wilderness areas of northern Tanzania, far from busy lodge clusters or high-traffic safari routes. Camps are positioned in areas chosen for strong wildlife presence, scenic landscapes, and a sense of seclusion. This remoteness allows for quieter game viewing, fewer vehicles at sightings, and a more authentic Tanzania safari experience focused on nature rather than infrastructure.

Entara operates across several key safari regions in northern Tanzania, including:

  • Serengeti National Park
  • Greater Tarangire
  • Lake Eyasi
  • Arusha National Park

These regions together offer a combination of open plains, woodlands, Rift Valley landscapes, and important wildlife migration routes.

On an Entara Tanzania safari, guests usually travel between regions using a combination of light aircraft flights and road transfers. This mix of air and road travel allows guests to experience multiple landscapes efficiently while still enjoying scenic overland game-viewing drives.

Entara safaris in Tanzania are best suited for travellers who want a more adventurous and immersive safari style rather than a purely lodge-based luxury holiday. They are ideal for guests interested in walking safaris, fly camping, cultural interaction, and time in remote areas with fewer crowds. This type of safari appeals to curious, nature-focused travellers who value experience, guiding quality, and connection to place as much as comfort.
